Applications

ASKO Slab, Blooming, and Billet Knives crop the head and tail ends of slabs, blooms, or billets. They are used between the caster delivery section and the first rolling mill stand, tunnel, or re-heat furnace or between the furnace and the rolling mill. They typically operate at temperatures above 1500ºF/800ºF and may be used with or without coolant.

Grades

ASKO Slab, Bloom, and Billet Knives are custom manufactured and specially engineered for high temperature environments. They are available in a range of hot work tool steel grades and super alloy grades matched to the requirements of each application. Composite designs using superalloys are also available.

ASKO Slab, Bloom, and Billet Knives are available in a range of designs. ASKO produces knives to mill builder designs, user modified designs, and in special situations can offer design advice for improved performance.
